Cursor adds iPhone remote control for local agents

Cursor Remote Control lets the iOS app view and message local agents while execution stays on the computer; Enterprise enables it separately.

Direct answer

Cursor documents Remote Control for local agents: users can view running agents and send messages from the iOS app while the agent continues to execute on the local computer.

Before

Local Cursor agents were primarily monitored and directed from the computer where they were running.

Now

The iOS app can view and message local agents running on the user’s computer; that computer must remain on and online.

Cursor documented Remote Control for local agents on October 6, 2026. From the Cursor iOS app, users can select computers on their account, open a list of local agents, inspect what an agent is doing and send it another message.

The execution boundary matters. Cursor explicitly says Remote Control does not move the agent to the cloud: the agent keeps running on the user’s computer and the mobile app connects to it. The computer therefore needs to stay powered on and online, with an optional desktop setting to keep it awake while the user is away.

Enterprise organizations have a separate governance default. Remote Control is off by default for Enterprise and can be enabled by administrators under Security and identity. Cursor also states that the feature does not require Cloud Agents.

For AgentenCode, this is a verified operating and interaction change for Cursor Agent. It does not expand file, terminal or tool permissions by itself. Those permissions remain determined by the local Cursor configuration and the environment in which the agent is running.

For teams, the update makes the distinction between execution location and control surface more important. A local agent controlled from a phone is still a process on the developer’s machine, so device access, local secrets, terminal permissions and repository controls remain part of the same security review.
